Cleopatra was a famous queen of Egypt. Most people think she was born in Egypt, of course, but she was really Greek. In fact, she was born in Macedonia. She died in Alexandria, in the year 30 BC.
The Mississippi is a big river in North America. Many people think it’s the longest river in the world, but it isn’t. The longest river in the world is the Nile, in Egypt. It’s 6,671 kilometres long. The Mississippi is the second longest river. It’s “only” 3,778 kilometres long. But if you consider the Missouri and the Mississippi together, the total length is 5,970 kilometres.
1998 was an important year for French football or ‘soccer’ fans. That’s when France won the World Cup, in Paris. They defeated Brazil in the final match, three to zero.

Rome, Milan and Turin are the three biggest cities in Italy. Milan is bigger than Turin, but it’s smaller than Rome. The population of Rome is about 2 million 800 thousand. The population of Milan is about 1 million 400 thousand. Turin has about 1 million inhabitants.
Berlin, Hamburg and Munich are the three biggest cities in Germany. Hamburg is bigger than Munich, but it’s smaller than Berlin. The population of Berlin is about 3.4 million. The population of Hamburg is about 1.6 million. Munich has about 1.2 million inhabitants.
